Obituary of Mariah Cabbagestalk

Mariah “Lee” Blackwell Cabbagestalk was the daughter of the late George Jr. and Lemmon English Blackwell. She was born July 30, 1929 in Sumter, SC. Mariah was the oldest of eleven children. On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, Mariah ‘Lee” entered into eternal rest at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC. At an early age Mariah ”Lee” accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a dedicated member of Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church. At Mulberry, she served on the Senior Choir, Senior Missionary ministry, and Senior Citizen ministry. Mariah “Lee” received her early education in the public schools of Sumter County. Mariah was employed at Dr. Winter’s office, Millwood School and she retired from Korn Industries with thirty plus years of service. She was married to the late Richard Cabbagestalk and to this union three sons were born: Robert Lee, Jimmy and Michael Cabbagestalk. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Cabbagestalk; a sister, Sarah B. Tyler; seven brothers, Johnnie Blackwell, Nero Blackwell, George I. Blackwell, Nelson Blackwell, William Blackwell, James Ervin Blackwell and Sammy Blackwell. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her two sons: Robert Lee and Michael Cabbagestalk of the home;two sisters, Martha B (Sylvester) Culbreath of Sumter and Wilhelmina (Reverend Jessie) Nash of Philadelphia,PA;five sisters-in-laws; two brothers-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends. She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle voice and smile.
