Obituary of Alonza Bernard Hampton

Alonza Hampton was born November 2, 1954 in Mayesville, South Carolina to Sarah Moses Hampton and the late Sidney Hampton Sr.

Alonza was educated in the public schools of Sumter County.  He was employed throughout his career. His latest employment was at Model Dye in Sumter, SC.  

Alonza accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and was a faithful member of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Alonza was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Hampton and father Sidney Hampton Sr.

Alonza Hampton departed his earthly journey on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Medical Center.

He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories; his loving children, Christopher Copeland Sr. (Priscessa) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Clifton Copeland of Wisacky, SC. his sister Annette Anderson (A.C.) of Mayesville, SC, two adopted sister Rosa L.Jefferson of Mayesville, SC, Gertie Dobson of Lynchburg, SC and one brother Sidney Hampton (Rita) of Sumter, SC, four sister-in-laws Geneva Copeland of Sumter, Bertha Mabry Baltimore, MD, Anna Copeland of Sumter, SC, Marie Scarborough of Sumter, SC, five grandchildren India Singletary (Javis) of Greensboro, NC, Christopher Jr., Chandler, Chace, and Christen of Warner Robins, GA; two special nieces Catina Hampton Strong of Charlotte, NC and Antoinette Hampton of Mayesville, SC; a host of grandnieces Achsah Canty, Crystal Canty of Charlotte, NC., and Shania Hampton of Mayesville, SC and a grandnephew Anthony Massey of Charlotte, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
