Obituary of Autman David Pinckney, Sr.

Autman “David” Pinckney Sr. was born on February 21, 1940 in Cross S.C. to the late Willie and Lillie Mae Green Pinckney. “David” as he was affectionately known, received his early education in the Berkeley County Public School System.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Jerusalem United Methodist Church. At an early age, David helped his parents with the family business Pinckney’s Grocery. In the late 1950’s David moved to Miami FL, where he worked as a cook for the University of Miami.

There in 1961 he met Allean, the love of his life and wedded her in Holy Matrimony in 1962. To this Union they were blessed with seven children of whom two preceded him in death. David had a great sense of humor, and seemingly had a different joke for everyday of the week. Other than a cook, over the course of his life David had a few jobs; he worked for General Electric, The Dye Company of North Charleston, and lastly a contracted maintenance worker for Santee Cooper where he became disabled and retired. He was a protective hardworking man who valued time spent with his family.
