Obituary of Carrie Prioleau

Carrie M. Prioleau was born on April 13, 1933 to the late Sanders and Delia Bracey Singleton and was the first of their fifteen children.  She was born in Sumter County, South Carolina and was married to the late Abraham Prioleau, II.

Carrie M. Prioleau joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at an early age and served on several organizations faithfully. She was formally educated in Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School. She worked at the Sewing Factory in Pinewood, S.C. and retired in 1986 from Exide Battery Inc. after 23 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed quilting, vegetable gardening, and visiting her friends at the Assisted Living facilities. She was best known for baking sweet potato pies, coconut pies, and lemon pound cake.

Carrie M. Prioleau was preceded in death by seven of her siblings: Earl Singleton, Wade Singleton, Maceo Singleton, John Singleton, Thomas Singleton, Benjamin (affectionately called “Brother”) Singleton, and one sister, Hattie “Cathy” Jackson.

Carrie M. Prioleau transitioned from this life to begin her eternal journey to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 1, 2019. 

She leaves to celebrate and cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Marilyn Prioleau Campbell of Severn, Maryland, and Carolyn Prioleau Elleby of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons, Abraham Prioleau III (Diana) of Torrance, California, and Herman Sanders Prioleau (Leila) of Savannah, Georgia; six grandchildren, Marlo Lavonne Prioleau, Brandon David Wheeler, Hermanda Shirin Prioleau, Syndney Lauren Prioleau, Timothy Elleby ll, Abram Prioleau Elleby; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Joseph Wheeler, Lauren Lindsay Prioleau, Carter Blake Grizzle, and Aiden Jonnie Davall; four brothers, William “Bill” (Willie Mae) Singleton, Gaynard Singleton, both of Sumter, South Carolina, James Albert Singleton of Greenville, SC, and Lewis Singleton of Hartsville, South Carolina; three sisters, Rhetta Sanders of Sumter, SC, Sarah Griggs of Columbus, Georgia, and Darcus “Dottie” Stewart of Woodbridge, Virginia; sister-in-law, Kyong Lee Singleton of Greenbelt, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
