Obituary of Mary Cannon

Mary (Gloria) Epps Cannon was born on April 11, 1955 to the late Charles R. Barno, Sr. and Mary Epps Barno in Sumter, South Carolina.

Mary attended the public schools of Sumter County. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church in Lynchburg, South Carolina and then she later joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina.

Mary was preceded in death by her father; Charles R. Barno, Sr., grandparents; John and Elease Epps, two brothers; Raymond Barno and Charles Barno, Jr. and a sister-in-law; Patricia Ann Sumpter.

Mary entered eternal rest on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter, South Carolina.

She leaves to cherish precious memories; her mother; Mary Epps Barno, the father of her children; Andrew Stavis of Rembert, SC, her children; Lakesha (Marion) McMilliam, Latoya Cannon, Letaurus (Angelica) Cannon, Lorenzo Cannon, Lakeila Cannon, Marquell Singleton, Jamie (Kim) Chestnut all of Sumter, SC, Lameka Cannon of Raeford, NC and Lakeema Cannon of Elizabethtown, KY, a sister; Minnie Barno of Myrtle Beach, SC, two brothers; Lawrence Barno and Harry Epps both of Sumter, SC, twenty-one grandchildren; Kiajuana Cannon, Uniqua Mickens, Imani Heyward, Jakheem Heyward, Akira Cannon, Raequon Cannon, Kim Cannon, Alaiya Cannon, Cameron Cannon, Jayden Cannon, Makayla Cannon, Amia James, Shamell Sanders, Andre James, Jr., Samara Simmons, Tadijah McCargo, Auri Taylor all of Sumter, SC, Saniya Wheeler, Ariana Wheeler, Trevon Wheeler, Jr., all of Elizabethtown, KY, Zamir Randolph of Raeford, NC, two great-grandchildren; Sereniti and Serena McKnight of Sumter, SC, a God-daughter; Tyshonda Maple of Sumter, SC, special nieces; Lavitra Barno of Accoceek, MD and Latasha Anderson of Sumter, SC, special aunt; Lizzie Harrison of Turbeville, SC, special cousin; Patricia Harrison of Turbeville, SC, three special men whom she called her sons; Wesley (Genevieve) Williams of Columbia, SC, Trevon Wheeler of Elizabethtown, KY and Andre James of Sumter, SC, another aunt, one uncle and a host of other relatives and friends.

Everyone who knew Mary knew that she loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in this world but there was one of her granddaughters that she held near and dear to her heart, Uniqua Mickens. Uniqua took care of her grandmother until the day she died. She never left her side.

The family is receiving friends at 3255 N. Main Street Sumter, SC
