Obituary of Eugene Wells

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Psalms 30:5

Eugene Wells, son of the late Andrew and Evester Gass Wells, was born on May 16, 1953 in Sumter, South Carolina .

Eugene, better known as “Bogene” and “Jack” to many, attended the public schools of Sumter County. He grew up in the Mt. Zion Baptist church with his family.  At an early age, he met and married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Rhodes Wells. Together, they parented one son, David Rhodes.

Mr. Eugene Wells went into the workforce at a very young age.  He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family and extended family.  His occupations include Pilgrim Pride and Palmetto Health Tuomey Medical Center.  In May of 2018, due to his illness, Mr. Eugene Wells had to retire from Pilgrim Pride and Palmetto Health Tuomey Medical Center.

Just recently, Mr. Eugene Wells got very concerned about his soul and was anxious to dedicate his life back to God through water baptism in the Name of our Lord Jesus at the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church on September 30, 2018.  What a beautiful and joyful day it was to see him publicly confess his dedication and commitment to Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by two sisters; Pastor Shirley Holliday and Catherine Elaine Westley; three sister-in-laws, Patricia Gass, Pearl Richardson and Viola Baxter.

He departed this earthly life on Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Palmetto Health Tuomey Medical Center.
