Obituary of Rodney Hatcher

Mr. Rodney Lee Hatcher affectionately known as "Chicken Wing", son of the late Charlie Frank Hatcher and Ida Mae Nelson Hatcher was born March 6, 1978 in Clarendon County SC.

At an early age, “Chicken Wing” became a member of Antioch RMUE Church in Rimini, SC where he faithfully participated in the sunbeam and youth choir. 

“Chicken Wing” was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. While in school he participated in numerous amounts of sports, and was a well rounded individual. To know him, was simply to love him. His personality and heart was truly one of a kind, and could never be replaced. “Chicken wing” enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, watching sports, talking "MAJOR" trash, but most of all spending time with his family and his heart Lakeisha.

 He was employed with Interlake of Sumter, where he was known as one of the best forklift operators in history. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Lee Nelson and Marcy Hatcher, Sr.

On September 26, 2018 after a life well lived he traded his labor for reward.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories; a brother, Wilbur A. Hatcher; sister Deloris Hatcher (Sam) both of Sumter; his fiance` Lakeisha Brogdon of Sumter, two step daughters Destiny Moses and Faith Brogdon of Sumter, seven nephews Brandon McCormick, Kwamae Johnson, Justin Stephen, Dariyan Hatcher, Quamayne Hatcher, Ansley Johnson all of Sumter, and Marcy Hatcher Jr. of Columbia, SC; four nieces, Ka-Vone (Donnavan) Pinckney, Santanna K Crosby, Keisha Stephen, all of Sumter, and MyKayla Hatcher of Columbia, SC; special niece whom he raised, Santaje Hatcher of Sumter; twenty great nieces and nephews; two sisters in law; Latirsha Nelson of Thomasville, NC and Theresa Hatcher of Sumter; three special sisters, Demetria Johnson of Rimini, Calandra Junious of Atlanta GA and Lavonda (Ira) Gary of Columbia, SC; five uncles, Marion (Gloria) Hatcher of Columbia, SC, Marvin (Monica) Hatcher of York, VA, Reverend Amos (Bert) Hatcher of Summerton, SC, Michael Hatcher and Richard Nelson of Rimini SC; six aunts, Fannie Johnson, Reverend Sarah (Isaiah) Bennett, Marie (Earl) Milton all of Rimini SC, Lucille (James) Junious of Thomasville,NC, Ethel (Sam) Bennett of Tobyhanna, PA, and Marie Nelson of Pittsburgh, PA; great aunt, Eunice Jackson of Whitesville, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
