Obituary of Gwendolyn Jackson Fortune

Gwendolyn Jackson Fortune was February 20, 1957, in Sumter, to the late Tossie and Cora Lee Washington Jackson.

 

Gwendolyn, affectionally known as "Lil Mama" attended and graduated from Sumter High School Class of 1975.

 

She was a compassionate, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was employed throughout her career, her latest employment was with Unifirst, Inc in Sumter, SC

 

She was a devoted and faithful member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, SC

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in by six sisters and brothers.

 

She departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Florence Regency Hospital in Florence, SC

 

Gwendolyn is survived by her loving husband, Willie Fortune; four children, Theron (Jami) Jackson, Telly (Adrienne) Jackson, Kenneth Jackson and Zi’Asia Jackson-Rose; three brothers, Willie “Chilli” Washington, Levi “Blackjack” Jackson and Henry “Leroy” Jackson; two sisters, Evelena Jackson-Lucky and Gwenevere Jackson-Greene; special nephew Larry “Tree Monkey” Welch and niece Wanda Lucky and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

 

The family is receiving friends at 310 Enter Street Sumter, SC.
