Obituary for Elijah Harvin
Elijah Harvin was born May 16,1946 to the late Moses B. and Sarah Ann Brunson Harvin in Sumter County, SC.
Elijah attended the public schools in Sumter County. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of LaGree AME Church. He was a faithful and loyal supporter of his church and he held many positions within the church serving as a Class Leader, Trustee Board and the Male Choir.
Elijah was employed at Southern Coating, Georgia Pacific and he retired from Crescent Tool. He worked for E&J Janitorial Services until his health failed.
He was married to his beloved wife the late Eva N. Harvin and this union was blessed with two sons.
Elijah was preceded in death by his wife, a son Michael G. Harvin, two brothers, Lee Moses Harvin and John E. Harvin, a sister Luvenia Harvin, two aunts, Rosa J. Brown and Thomasina H. Brunson, three uncles, William Harvin, Earnest Harvin and Benny Harvin and one niece Jacqueline Harvin Brown.
Elijah departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA.
He leaves to cherish his memories; a son, Timothy (Keisha) Harvin of the home; a grandson Brandon Cummings of Sumter, SC; a brother Thomas Harvin of Bronx NY; eight sisters, Agnes Grayson of Capital Heights, MD, Rosa J. Stokes of Bronx NY, Mary (William) Young of Brooklyn, NY, Emma (Cedric) Washington of Brooklyn, NY, Patricia Harvin of Fairfax, VA, Naomi Harvin, Elease H. Johnson and Sarah Harvin all of Sumter, SC; six-sisters-in-laws, Sally Mae Harvin of West Haven, CT, Dorthy (Joseph) Scott of Sumter, SC, Mary Miller of Asbury Park, NJ, Shirley (David) Clayton of Neptune, NJ, Cynthia Barrien and Deborah Miller both of Neptune, NJ, Jacqueline (James) Williams of Sumter, SC; two brothers-in-laws, Fredrick Alston of New York and Sammie Miller Jr. of Ocean, NJ, one aunt, Esther Johnson of Bronx, NY, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
