Melvin "Tozyjo" Joseph Sr.
Mr. Melvin Isaac Joseph, Sr. was born March 9, 1948 in Trinidad and Tobago West Indies to the late Herman David and Ivey Dugan Joseph.
Melvin graduated from St. John’s Preparatory School in Trinidad and received his Associate Degree in New York State.
Melvin was married to Mary Webber Joseph on June 10, 1976 and from this union five lovely children were born.
Melvin was a member of the Infantry Battalion in the United States Army and served amid the front lines during the Vietnam conflict. Melvin was severely injured during the conflict and was the only survivor out of his battalion. Melvin always said it was the voice of the Holy Spirit that kept him safe during the war.
Melvin dedicated his life to the rearing of his five children whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed playing the guitar, reading, studying his Bible, playing soccer, and taking his children on excursions. He was also actively involved with many charities & charitable organizations.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by a brother, Eversley Joseph, beloved siblings, his stepmother, aunts, uncles and other loved ones.
Melvin departed this life on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mary Ann Webber Joseph, three sons, Melvin Jr, Michael and Martin Joseph; two daughters, Marcia and Marji Joseph; nine grandchildren, Michael Jr, Shavondria, Noah, Imani, Ava, Lafayette, London, Cairo, and Asia; nieces and nephews Michelle, Marcia, Junior, Trevelyn, Wendell, Sharon, Joel, Ayiya, Taisha, Akillah, Jameel, Aliya, Alisha, Naisyasha, Marlyn, Lakeba, Laugugh, Quamie and many other beloved family and friends.
Melvin, you are so loved by many and will be greatly missed. Until we meet again.
