George "Hollywood" Smith
George "Hollywood" Smith was born December 13, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Marion And Marcella Lewis Smith, Sr.
George received his formal education in the public schools of New York City.
In his early years, he enjoyed playing and coaching softball with his siblings. He was also a local DJ where he was given the name "Hollywood".
In 1985, George married the former Linda Rogers and to this union six beautiful children were born. In August of 1989, George and his family relocated to Manning, SC, where he quickly became known as the handyman and jack of all trades.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Smith, Eddie "Butch" Smith and Robert Lee Briggs and three sisters, Evella Smith, Carrie Dunton and Dixie Dingle.
On Friday, January 26, 2018, George "Hollywood" Smith departed this earthly life at his home in Sumter, SC.
George leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife, Linda R. Smith; children, Tyme Smith, George Rogers, Richard Smith, Tina Morris, Leonard Smith, Gregory Smith and Linda Smith; thirteen grandchildren; five sisters, Gloria Bachus, Martha Jean Youngblood, Lillie Briggs, Meredith Edwards and Mary Jones; two brothers, Marion Smith, Jr. and Timothy Briggs; three brothers-in-law, Lue Bachus, Gregory Rogers and James Dingle; sister-in-law, Shelia Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
