Mr. Kevin Canty, widow of the late Betty Lee Canty, was born on August 15, 1960 to the late Robert and Emma Lee Canty in Brooklyn, New York.
Kevin was raised in Brooklyn but later returned to Sumter, South Carolina. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Kevin was full of life and was eager to explore all that life had to offer. He could also be described as a “Jack of all trades”. He was an avid spades player and when you heard him say “stick em up!” you knew he was about to win. Kevin loved football and was a huge Pittsburg Steelers fan. He also enjoyed playing checkers and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Kevin was preceded in death by a sister; Cherele Canty, two brothers; Bernard Canty and Ronald Canty, three aunts; Peggy Conley, Mary and Theresa Wilson, three uncles; Claude Anderson, Jasper Peterson and Thomas Anderson and a loving sister-in-law, Julia Mae Canty.
Kevin departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey Medical Center.
Kevin leaves to cherish his memories: three brothers, Michael R. Canty of Sumter, SC, Darrel Canty of Cleveland, OH and Vernon Canty of Fort Campbell, KY; a nephew, Michael E. Canty of Sumter, SC; three nieces, Vonetta Bridges of Baltimore, MD, Yolanda Canty and Jennifer Canty both of Sumter, SC; two aunts, Cynthia P. Anderson and Geraldine Dickerson both of Sumter, SC; a special friend, Jerome Rembert and a host of other relatives and friends including the original James Village Family.
